The Board of Governors of IIM Calcutta met on November 7th , 2023, to take note of the resignation letter of the Director, Prof. Uttam Kumar Sarkar. The resignation was accepted with immediate effect. Prof. Uttam Kumar Sarkar will continue as a Professor in the MIS Group of the Institute. Prof. Sahadeb Sarkar a Professor in the Operations Management Group of the Institute has been appointed as Director-in- Charge in accordance with the provisions of the IIM Act 2017. Prof Sahadeb Sarkar has a Ph. D. in Statistics from Iowa State University, USA. He joined the Operations Management Group of IIM Calcutta in 1997. Before joining IIM Calcutta he was an Associate Professor with tenure at Oklahoma State University, USA.
IIM Calcutta concludes Summer Placements 2023 on a high note by achieving 100% placements for the 60th batch of its flagship MBA program
IIM Calcutta completed its summer internship placement week for the 60th batch on 18th October by securing 513 offers for 466 students.

Glimpses from the 15th edition of GuruSpeak® held on Saturday, 19 August 2023 at Hotel ITC Sonar, Calcutta. This flagship event was organised by IIM Calcutta Alumni Association, Calcutta Chapter. The title of this year’s GuruSpeak is "Disrupting Markets and Building Brands".
Partition’s pains can never be forgotten. Millions of our sisters and brothers were displaced and many lost their lives due to mindless hate and violence. In memory of the struggles and sacrifices of our people, 14th August will be observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.
The United Nations General Assembly at its 75th session in March 2021 declared 2023 the International Year of Millets (IYM 2023). FAO is the lead agency for celebrating the Year in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders. Millets can grow on arid lands with minimal inputs and are resilient to changes in climate. They are therefore an ideal solution for countries to increase self-sufficiency and reduce reliance on imported cereal grains. This year various measures have been taken to promote the sustainable production of millets while highlighting their potential to provide new sustainable market opportunities for producers and consumers.
IIM Calcutta organized the G20 University Connect Engaging Young Minds program yesterday. Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla, G20 Chief Coordinator delivered the Keynote Speech on G20 Presidency. Special Remarks by Professor Varun Sahni of Jawaharlal Nehru National University and Professor Sanjay Chaturvedi of South Asian University, moderated by Professor Biju Paul Abraham of IIM Calcutta.
